Curt was born to William Frederick and Mildred Spencer Bartelt in Philadelphia, on 30 May 1925. Curt was proceeded in death by his first wife, Genevieve Fowle Bartelt, and his only sister, Mildred Bartelt.
He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Lynn Lund (Cary, NC); five children from his first marriage, Nina (Donald), Bristol, IN; Scott (Jan), Mesa, AZ; Grant (Charlotte), Petersburg, TN; Perry (Gloria), Advance, NC; and Ted (Beth), Raleigh, NC; as well as thirteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; and Lynn's three children, six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Curt grew up in Philadelphia and was drafted after high school in 1943. He served in the 95th Infantry under General Patton. After 50 years he processed his war experiences with his grandchildren. Following the war, Curt attended Bucknell College where he met Genevieve (VV) Fowle. They were married on 2 September 1951. Their family of five children grew up in Rockledge and Jenkintown, PA, where Curt served in family medicine with his partners, George Hess, and Bob Parsons. In 1975, Curt and VV moved to Charlotte, NC, where Curt continued his family practice.
Lake Lure became a favorite golfing destination for Curt, and in 1986 he and VV became permanent residents of Fairfield Mountains (now Rumbling Bald), Lake Lure, NC. They hosted family and friends, enjoyed golf outings, and travel. Curt and VV were active in the Chapel at Fairfield Mountains where Curt sang in the choir.
After VV's illness and death in 2008, Curt married local resident, Lynn Lund, on Curt's 85th birthday, May 30, 2010. They loved living on the lake and enjoyed hosting all their children and grandchildren and great grandchildren. Lynn and Curt moved to The Templeton, Cary, NC, in October 2021 where they resided until his death.
