Eric Hugo Obituary
Mr. Hugo, 59, of Matthews died suddenly Saturday, July 24, 2010 at CMC-Main. He was born April 22, 1951 in Tanauan, Philippines to Ester Castillo Hugo and the late Pedro Hugo. He was Vice President at Bank of America in Charlotte, working as an administrator of treasury and portfolio management. Eric was a dedicated and loving husband and father who also enjoyed golf, tennis, cooking, and carpentry. He was an active member in the civic group the Filipino-American Community of the Carolinas.
His survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife of 30 years, Mercedes P. Hugo; daughter, Erica Ester Hugo of Chicago; son, John Christopher Hugo of Matthews; and his siblings, Edna, Gerry, Elyn, Edong, and Erma, all of the Philippines.
His family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 PM at Heritage Funeral Home in Indian Trail. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 AM Thursday at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Charlotte.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in the memory of Eric Hugo to the scholarship of his alma mater in the Philippines. Please make checks payable to Mercedes Hugo and include 'De La Salle Inc' on the memo line.
Arrangements for the Hugo family are in the care of Heritage Funeral Home, Indian Trail Chapel. Online condolences may be left at www.heritagefuneral.net.

I worked with Eric for several years at Bank of America and he was a gentleman and always so polite and helpful. I was shocked to hear of his demise at such an early age. My condolances to his family.

I had the pleasure of working with Eric at Bank of America from 1996 until 2001. I had lunch with a friend on last Wednesday at Mimosa Grill, and Eric was dining there at that time. I spoke and briefly caught up on life over the past 9 years. Never did I imagine that would be my last time seeing him. Rest in Peace Eric. May God be with your family during this difficult time.
