We had a great time singing in the tenor section with Bro. Rhodes on the Adult Choir at Northeast SDA Church. He loved hearing and agreeing with the Word of God during worship service with a hearty Yes!, Yes! or Amen! He was always a tack sharp dresser from head to toe; especially his black & white Spectator shoes. He planted many flowers and plants to beautify our church grounds. Our prayers are with his wife Annie and family.

Thomas was a wonderful friend and was considered one of the family at Kings Drug. Him and his wife Mickey were lots more than employees, they were part of our family. I will miss our time spent together where he taught me life lessons as we reminisced about the old days at Kings. Our deepest condolences to Mickey, Denise and the rest of the family from all the Oxendine's. RIP Thomas

Sending prayers of comfort to the Rhodes family. Mr. Rhodes was a delightful neighbor, the whole family was a joy to our children growing up. Dan was my other son. Mr. Rhodes would walk over to the fence when my daughter would come home and hand her a few dollars for college. She really appreciated that. She admired his yard so much. He will be missed. May God comfort his wife and children.

God has spoken again. I'm trying to decide where to begin with my thoughts of Mr. Thomas; my friend, mentor, adopted family member, former church member, CMS volunteer, prayer partner, etc.... The list is unlimited! I am greatly saddened by his sudden and unexpected earthly departure; yet I know I should rejoice knowing that he transitioned to his heavenly home. Mr. Thomas was always supportive and celebratory of all my family members' accomplishments. He rejoiced with me during the graduations of my nephews and nieces. He attended the Navy Reunions which commemorated my Dad. He supported the beautification of the grounds at Lincoln Heights Elementary School when our church (First Fellowship) worshipped there and I worked there. He served as a testing proctor for CMS to help me out. He was a great support for my family and me during the passing of our parents and drove 5 hours to be with us during those times. Six to seven days out of the week I could expect to receive an encouraging EARLY morning text and sometimes phone call. He'd always share the gospel and talk with me about what he had read and/or was planning to read; who he was going to have lunch with for that day; what he was planning to do in his yard and what books I needed to read to grow in my spiritual walk. Mr. Thomas encouraged me to always be a reflection of God in my work, my home and within the community. If I ever needed anything, I knew I could call him and he'd come through. A sharp dresser, he always gave God the glory for all. Like so many others, I'll miss his smile, his distinct walk and the excitement in his voice intonation whenever he talked about or listened to testimonies of the goodness of the Lord..... "Yes! Yes.... Amen!" To the Rhodes Family, I pray that God will continue to strengthen and comfort you in the days and nights to come. You will be in my thoughts as you adjust to this change. I too know this journey. I thank God for allowing my path to intersect with Mr. Thomas'. As many have said and will say, his presence and spirit will be missed. When someone you love becomes a memory; that memory becomes a treasure. May this wonderful treasure always fill your hearts with love and bring you peace.
God Bless.
Evetta Lawrence-Davis, Ed.D.
