William Tabor Obituary
Mr. Tabor, 78, of McIlwaine Road, Huntersville, died Tuesday, July 13, 2004, at his residence. Born July 14, 1925, in Huntington, WV, he was a son of the late Estelle Baker Tabor. Mr. Tabor was owner/operator of Tabors Inn in Huntersville from 1960 to 1998. Tabors Inn was the first business between Charlotte and Cornelius on Hwy 21. Mr. Tabor was a member of First Baptist Church in Huntersville, the North Mecklenburg Republican Women's Party, the Mecklenburg Chamber of Commerce and the N.C. Chess Association. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dale Owen Tabor and his son, Dana D. Tabor.
Mr. Tabor is survived by a daughter-in-law, Regina Tabor, of San Antonio, TX; nephew and niece, Don and Joyce Wilson, of Huntersville; and granddaughters, Annie and Stephanie Tabor, both of San Antonio, TX.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, July 17, 2004, at the Cavin-Cook Funeral Home Chapel, Mooresville, with Rev. Spurgeon Dorton officiating. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until 2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, Mooresville, is serving the family of Mr. Tabor.

I am extremely sorry that our family was unable to attend Uncle Bill's memorial service. My daddy, who passed away in 1990, loved his older brother dearly. I will never forget spending the summers at Tabors Inn and how Uncle Bill would take my brothers and me to the movies every Sunday. His guidance and advice over the years always meant a lot to me.

Bill Tabor was one of my best friends and I shall miss him enormously. When we could not get together, we talked on the telephone, long conversations covering a diverse range of topics. When he returned from one of his frequent trips to Texas, he couldn't say enough good about his granddaughters, how smart they are, etc.
There will be a great void in my life now, but I will treasure my memories of Bill and all the Tabors.

I am honored to have known Bill the past year. His kind words of encouragement and hope will remain with me, as I'm sure they will with the many people whose hearts he touched. Sunday evening I heard him encourage someone to follow their heart for their life's work.

I KNEW MR. TABOR THE BEST WHEN I RESIDED AT THE TABORS INN. WHEN I HAD NO PLACE TO GO HE RENTED ME OUT A ROOM, AND HE WAS ALWAYS KIND.
