Echo Homeward Obituary

Homeward, Echo Weaver "Tanya Zenge" (8/25/83 - 11/30/13) Echo Homeward's soul was far too big for one world, one religion, one personality, or one gender. Gender queer and multiple, presenting as male or female as life suited, Echo's life goal was understanding humankind's spirituality. He was fascinated with eastern philosophy. She devoured everything he could to help them understand what makes us believe what we do and act as we do toward others. In the end, the divinity student focused on the Norse gods Loki and Hela. Perhaps Valhalla awaits somewhere. Here he glimpsed it only fleetingly, but found joy sharing her life with their husband and soulmate, North Rory Homeward. Despite living in various ragtag apartments, an RV in a Midwestern winter, a tiny room in a friend's house, and, mostly, in Rory's mom's basement, the couple still found love and happiness together, often in the silliest of things: dolls, Renaissance Faires, manga, Harry Potter, animalsso many animals because Echo's heart could not stand to see even an insect sufferand the many crafts he enjoyed. That these two, so perfect for each other, somehow met, is more evidence of Fate than any reasonable person could need. Their eight years together before the diagnosis of cancer were the best of Echo's life, and Rory was there every minute afterward, helping Echo on her/his/their way. Besides his husband, Echo leaves behind their marriage family: two sisters-in-law, Melanie and Julianne; a beloved cat, Pary; and his parents-in-law, Karen and Dirk. In addition, her mother, Linda Seaton, resides in the St. Louis area. A memorial service will be held in the spring, as Echo loved the outdoors. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heifer International, his favorite charity, or to the American Brain Tumor Association.
