James Francis Koutnik

Koutnik, James Francis. Age 26. A special soul born with a big heart that had boundless empathy for others. James' tenacious resolve allowed him to conquer trepidation and travel a path he created for himself. He performed his work with pride and made himself available to many by going bravely into places and situations where he brought service, aid and comfort. James built a life that modeled modesty and compassion. His razor wit and keen observational skills were softened by an unforgettable grin. A student of jujitsu, his confidence and development were bolstered by camaraderie with his many friends at New Breed Training Center. James graduated from EMT, Paramedic and Fire Academy Training over the past 6 years. He was initially employed by Superior Ambulance and later worked for Hometown IL and Bensenville IL Fire and Rescue. He was recently accepted into the Chicago Fire Academy. He also taught EMT classes at Oakton Community College. The Son of John and Teresa Koutnik, James was nurtured in a loving home by parents who modeled the importance of relationships and loyalty. As a Brother to Patrick and Samantha, "Jimmy" provided unconditional love, respect and support. Memorial service and Honor Guard will be held Tuesday August 10 from 4:30 to 6:30 pm at Fairway Banquets 6676 West Howard Street, Niles, IL 60714. Dress is business casual. In lieu of flowers and to honor the life of James, the family is requesting all donations be made to Misericordia Heart of Mercy.
