James "Ian" Thomson

Suddenly but peacefully on April 21st in Meigle, Scotland. Beloved husband of Patricia, much loved father and stepfather of Fiona, Alasdair (Lesley) and Gregor (Caroline) Thomson, Katy (Matthew) Rioch, and Chris (Audrey) Vojack, loving grandfather and step-grandfather to 13, and dear friend to many. Funeral and cremation services held in Strathaven, Scotland on May 1st. Ian of Westmuir, Kirriemuir, Scotland and Park Ridge, Illinois formerly worked as an engineer and enjoyed writing children's stories and poetry. He was a bright presence who brought a lot of love, happiness and laughter to his American family and friends and he will be sorely missed. A memorial service celebrating his life to be held on June 8th at the Redfield Estate at the Grove, in Glenview from 11 to 3 to which friends are respectfully invited. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Northwestern University, Feinberg School of Medicine, new Biomedical Research Center appreciated.
