JOHN DAVID MORDEN

John David Morden was born in Chicago's Roseland's neighborhood on Aug. 11, 1935. He was an individual who broke the mold. He rose from being a body shop worker in Stony Island to becoming an owner of a successful Bridgeport Buick Dealership. After years of success with John Morden Buick he went into the restaurant business and owned the popular Sophie's Ashland Wagon. In addition to his professional success, he dedicated endless hours to the Valentine's Boys Club. His devotion to the club earned him the honor of President. After he fulfilled his term the club gave him the nobility of Man of the Year. After 35 years in business, he retired to Treasure Island, FL where he became active with local civic groups. He served as President for the Sun Shine Beach Association for 13 years. He was a man that enjoyed life and the friends and family that surrounded him and will be greatly missed by all. He peacefully passed on Aug. 12, a day after celebrating his 74th birthday with family and friends. His memorial will be held at Resurrection Cemetery, 7200 Archer Rd. at 11 a.m., Aug. 29.
