Linda Hutchison Obituary

Linda L. Hutchison, age 81, of Oak Brook passed away peacefully on July 4, 2021. She was born in Chicago, IL on January 2, 1940 to John and Florence (Wallen) Hibbott. Growing up in the Morgan Park community on the south side of Chicago, Linda had two older sisters, Beverly and Nancy. Throughout her grade school and high school years, Linda was both social and passionate about sports especially cheerleading.

Linda went on to attend the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She pledged the Alpha Phi sorority and majored in Physical Education. It was here that she met her lifelong love and soon to be husband, Dave, on a blind date. Linda and Dave were married on August 19, 1961 and started their married life together in suburban Chicago first in Downers Grove and then LaGrange Park. They raised their children in Western Springs and ultimately settled in Oak Brook, IL.

Linda was an active, outgoing and charismatic person throughout her life. She could often be found on the tennis court, golf course, going for a run or sitting on the sidelines at one of Dave's softball games. The role she was born to play however, and did so well, was that of a devoted and loving mother to Beth (Nolin) and David. She dedicated her time to raising her children and caring for her family. In the years to follow, Linda stayed busy welcoming Beth's youth group friends and driving David and his teammates to hockey practices and games all over the state. One of the things that Linda brought to the family was a love for traveling. She was particularly smitten with Hilton Head Island, SC. Starting in 1985, this became the family's home away from home and location for many Thanksgivings, spring breaks and ultimately a place to retire once Dave wound down his busy career. Linda enjoyed decorating and keeping a lovely home, riding bikes on the beach and socializing with many friends, new and old. Golf replaced tennis and the Heritage Classic at Harbor Town Golf Links was an annual highlight for both of them.

Linda's family grew quickly as Beth had triplets (Steven, Hope and Sarah) in 1994. Another 4 granddaughters (Hannah, Amanda, Sophie and Mia) followed compliments of Kristine and David. A doting advocate for her family, she was always concerned about others' needs ahead of her own whether it was a meal, kind word or supportive prayer.

Linda is survived by her husband, Dave; children Beth Nolin and David (Kristine) Hutchison; grandchildren Steven David, Hope Taylor, Sarah Grace, Hannah Kathryn, Amanda Lauren, Sophie Jo and Mia Joy.

Linda is preceded in death by her parents and sisters Bev and Nancy.
