Lorraine Berning Obituary

Lorraine T. Berning, 75, of Crystal Lake, IL. passed away March 13, 2003 at the home of her son Barton Berning and his family, of Shawnee, Kansas. Lorraine was surrounded by her family who loved her deeply. A memorial service will be held on April 5, 6:30 p.m. at St. Paul United Church of Christ, 485 Woodstock St., Crystal Lake, IL. In lieu of flowers the family request contributions to Kansas City Hospice, 12006 W. 87th St., Lenexa, KS 66215. Lorraine was born on January 30, 1928 in Glenview, IL. She married James R. Berning on April 17, 1948. Lorraine has always been an inspiration to all for her love of God, family and friends. She has shown great courage, strength and dignity during her 4 year battle with colon cancer. Lorraine was an active member of St. Paul United Church of Christ where she was a member of the Mary's Circle. She formerly co-owned Crystal Lake Travel Agency for 10 years. Lorraine is survived by her husband James R. Berning, Crystal Lake, IL.; her daughter and son-in-law Susan and Peter Phillips, Crystal Lake, IL., and her son and daughter-in-law Barton and Leslie Berning, of Shawnee, KS.; five grandchildren Kristin, Jenna, and James Phillips, of Crystal Lake, IL. and Bennett and Grant Berning, of Shawnee, KS.; one brother Henry Tuttle, of Prairie View, IL.; many relative and friends.
