Charlie Larson Pat and I worked very closely on the Gerber account. Pat had a great feel for the character of the Gerber brand. We would often travel to Fremont together. I remember one trip where we had enough people to charter an aircraft. On the way back to Chicago we hit some mean turbulence. The martini Pat was holding flew out of his glass up to the bulkhead. Pat quickly followed the liquid with his glass and captured every drop of it when gravity took over again. Then he smiled and took a sip.

Vince Izzo Liz Graves Thanks for posting this, Liz. So sorry to learn about Pat. One of the first jobs I worked on as an assistant editor was a Hamms Beer package with Pat O'Hara. Then many others with him as an editor. Always a smile. He was a wonderful man who cared deeply about the work. One of the great professionals of the time. My deepest sympathy to Pat's family and friends.

Pat hired me right out of college. As my first Creative Director, he set the bar for not only having a creative spirit, but also for displaying kindness, patience, and fairness, along with a sense of humor. I am forever grateful for what he taught me. Sending my condolences and prayers.

Pat was one of the great professional talents of the ad business. I knew and loved him at JWT on many brands and at K&E before that, where he designed a legendary brand campaign for Pabst Beer. And what a painter!! Most gentle man I ever knew.

I am so proud and honored that Patrick was my Godfather. He and my father, Don Pegler, were best of friends. Whenever I spent time with him he always had a huge smile on his face and made everyone around him feel better. He will be greatly missed.

Mr. O'hara was a "student" in my painting class at Oakton Community College in Skokie. I responded to his artwork with some reactions and questions but overall I learned more from him than he could have learned from me. One of the "perks" of my job : meeting with and knowing amazing artists like Mr. O'hara. He was also a constant "reality check" as I got older and the students (seemingly) got younger.
Many times after giving an announcement or lecture demo I would expect the students to have a reaction or questions. I wasn't sure if I had made my point or if there was something I could add or address.
As time has gone on students rarely take good notes. They photograph my diagrams or even desire to just video my presentations. But typically no questions. This would baffle me.
Looking over to "Pat" our eyes would meet , he would give a quick nod and a smile and my sanity would be restored.
We have missed him for several semesters.
