Robert Schuster Obituary

Robert Charles Schuster, age 75, of Edgerton, WI, formerly of Chicago and Glenview, IL passed away on August 27 at his daughter's home in Dubuque, IA. Bob was born April 8, 1939 to George and Genevieve (Charles) Schuster. He married Patricia Ackermann on September 17, 1960, at St. Benedict's Catholic Church in Chicago, IL. She preceded him in death on September 11, 1995. He married Janet Hutchinson (nee Fish) on September 28, 1996 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Edgerton, WI. Bob was born and raised in Chicago, IL. He graduated from DePaul Academy in 1957 and attended classes at DePaul University. Bob was employed at Empire Butter & Egg Company of Chicago, the business originally founded by his father, where he became co-owner with his brother until his retirement. While living in Chicago, Bob was active in the Neighborhood Boys Club, the Knights of Columbus, and also actively enjoyed golf, bowling, and softball. He was very generous to his family, friends, and organizations he believed in. Upon retiring, Bob moved to Edgerton, WI, where he built his dream home overlooking the Rock River. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Edgerton, and enjoyed playing Bridge at the Janesville Senior Center. He also enjoyed traveling, including camping trips out West in his younger days and cruises in more recent years. He loved the annual family vacation with his daughter and grandchildren to a cabin on a lake in Minnesota where he taught each of his grandchildren to waterski. Bob was the Dad/Grandpa that could fix and build almost anything. He was a skilled woodworker and enjoyed remodeling homes, building cabinets for his daughter's home, and doing scroll saw work. He enjoyed giving his many beautiful scroll saw projects to his family and friends; these are gifts that will be forever treasured. Bob is survived by his wife, Janet; his daughter Chris Vondra of Dubuque, IA; grandchildren Nicole, Brett and Jamie Vondra; five step-children, John (Cheri Brown) Hutchinson of Janesville; Jean (John) Stillmank of Madison, WI; Jim (Kelly) Hutchinson of Oconomowoc, WI; Joe (Kim) Hutchinson of Janesville, WI and Jay (Suzann) Hutchinson of Greenville, WI; 12 step-grandchildren, 8 step-great-grandchildren and 2 step-great-great-grandchildren; his brother, Richard (April) Schuster of Inverness, IL; and his sister Cathryn (Tony) Martino of Frederick, MD; one brother-in-law, Jerry (Lou) Fish of Naperville, IL. He will also be missed by nieces and nephews who loved him very much. He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Joe Vondra. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 31, 2014, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Edgerton, with Father David Timmerman officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
