At a certain age, one sees too many passings, some untimely. This beautiful soul should have been on earth far longer to continue to bring music and drama to the world....and of course to continue to be a mother, wife, friend, co-worker, teacher, guiding light and beyond to those who cared for her deeply. How sad for her family. Yet this beautiful and heartfelt funeral showed such love and devotion; we can't imagine a single dry eye. May Stevie rest in peace....

I was so happy to see Stevi at our 50th Deerfield High School reunion last fall and so saddened and shocked to hear of her untimely passing. As I recall, her solo as Miss Jones in "the brotherhood of man" in the class musical of "How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying" brought down the house. So wonderful to know that she was able to pursue her love of music and touch so many lives. My sincere condolences to her family and friends. Such a beautiful person.

Stevi was as much a part of the Bar Show as if she'd been in the cast or staff. She was a force of nature, and an inspiration to us all--an example of how to live our lives to the fullest. Stevi let that life, joy and love spill over and embrace all in her orbit and beyond. My sincerest condolences to Jeff and the family. May her memory be for a blessing, because her life truly was.

I am so sorry for your loss. I remember Stevi choreographing the Glenbrook South Variety Show when I was a student there (1991-95), and I always looked forward to working with her. I joined her team at Apple Tree theater in Highland Park as well. I loved her energy and enthusiasm. She had so many talents. I look back on my time with her with much joy. I hope the heavy hearts now can lighten into beautiful memories over time. With condolences, Amy Rubenstein (Silverstein)

Stevi was inspirational for both of our children and their love of music - one of the best teachers we had the pleasure of knowing at GBS. She treated everyone with kindness, and her enthusiasm was infectious, even for us as parents. Experiencing so many of her shows over the years was always a treat, and her ability to bring out the best in her students was evident in every performance. Stevi was an exemplary educator and a wonderful person, and great memories of her will stay with us forever.

Stevi touched so many lives with her passion, enthusiasm and love. She connected with and inspired our daughter, Becky Jacobson and gave her so many opportunities that allowed her to maximize her love of music. She also connected with and touched us, no just as parents but as people. She hs made a beautiful difference in this world to countless people.

I´ll always remember my first audition for Bye Bye Birdie at the Children´s Theatre of Deerfield. It was in a school auditorium and it was in front of Stevi Marks, along with other members of the production team and I was scared to death. Stevi was so kind and I finished the audition and held no hope that I made the play. Miraculously I got the call that I was in and it opened up a whole new experience and I met many wonderful people. Stevi was a amazing director and knew how to get the best out of each of the cast members. And even though I was just part of the chorus she made me and the other chorus members feel like we were just as important to the show as the leads. I did 2 other shows with CTD and enjoyed each one. Stevi loved what she did and she loved to have fun. Her energy radiated to all of us, and CTW was known throughout the suburbs as an exceptional Community Theatre and it was largely because of Stevi´s ability to get everyone engaged and excited about the project. She was bigger than life.
