Marjorie Bird Obituary

Marjorie Cross Bird, 81, of Chico, California, passed away on Tuesday, February 1, 2005. Marjorie was born on March 2, 1923 to Floyd and Edith Cross in Fort Collins, Colorado. She received her B.A. from University of Colorado, Boulder and an M.A. from University of Oklahoma. She married Philip C. Bird in 1949; they were married for 26 years. Marjorie was an active member of Kappa Kappa Gamma, PEO and her passions were her friends and family, gardening, traveling, and writing. Her quick wit, sharp mind, and feisty nature will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her children: daughters, Kathleen Bird and her husband, Steve Yocum of Conifer, Colorado, Leslie and her husband, Mark Ziemkowski of Chico, California; her son, Brad Bird and his wife, Elizabeth of Tiburon, California; and eight grandsons. Marjorie was preceded in death by her daughter, Susan Bird in 1989. Services will be held in Fort Collins, Colorado, in the summer of 2005. Memorial contributions may be made to The Country Commons Alzheimers Care Home, the facility that lovingly cared for Marjorie, in care of Newton-Bracewell Chico Funeral Home.
