1924 - 2017

MARJORIE BURTIS INGALLS With children by her side, Marjorie Burtis Ingalls, our beloved mother, rose peacefully to heaven on July 8, 2017. She was still beautiful at the age of 92. She was born on December 16, 1924 in Plainfield, New Jersey to Lydia and Captain William Burtis, USN. Her father, a 1912 graduate of the United States Naval Academy, moved the family to California before the U.S. entered World War II. After graduating from Hoover High School in Glendale, CA, Marjorie married our father, Dean R. Anderberg. While both her father and husband were called to Naval duty during the war, she supported them by working at Lockheed Corporation in Burbank, CA. Marjorie had the values of a woman of that generation. She was strong, persistent, devoted to her family, and loved her country. While raising 5 children, she became a nurse, graduating from Butte College's first LVN program in the late 1960's. She loved nursing at Chico Community Hospital and upon retiring, she continued to serve as a volunteer for 25 years at Enloe Hospital. Mom had several pastimes including walking, reading, baking cookies & cakes, politics, and listening to Frank Sinatra. She was blessed by many endearing friendships during her life. Of all her accomplishments, Marjorie was the most proud of her children and said on many occasions, "All I ever wanted was to be a mother." Marjorie is survived by her 5 children, Susan A. Patton (Jeff), Dean Anderberg, Jr. (Marsha), Barbara Vandegrift (Steve), Robin Barrett (Rob), Brian Anderberg; her 7 grandchildren, Patrick, Jeffrey (Pam), Krista (Buddy), Hans (Tara), Kayla (Hytham), Nathan, Emily; her 13 great -grandchildren; her devoted sister Barbara; nieces and nephews. Praises and thanks to the entire staff of Enloe Hospice for their unwavering support and love shown to Marjorie during her last 8 months of life. We would greatly appreciate a donation to Enloe Hospice, 1390 E. Lassen Ave., Chico, CA 95973 A memorial service by Pastor Ryan Washburn of Fort Bidwell, CA, will be held at Meadowbrook Ranch, 15430 Skyway, Magalia, CA on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at 1:00 PM.
