PEGGY GOODELL Obituary

PEGGY GOODELL Peggy Goodell, 75, of Penn Yan, N.Y., passed away peacefully on November 4, 2023, at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. A 1965 graduate of Penn Yan Academy, she was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Born December 13, 1947, to the late Jack and Ann Marshall, Peggy was a loving and devoted mother to her children, Lauren (Steve) Goodell, Thomas (Jennifer) Goodell, and Jenn (Scott) Cooper. She is survived by her sister and best friend, Kathy (Gary) Tyler, and brothers John (Rose) and JP (Amy) Marshall. She leaves behind six grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews. Peggy's family and friends will forever carry her memory in their hearts as they remember her warm smile, her giggle, and the love she shared with those around her. Peggy adored her family, including her kitty, Minnie. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her loved ones. She treasured being the first call from her son Tom from the woods when he got a deer, taking road trips with her daughter Lauren, and attending her grandkids' games with her daughter Jenn. She was the proudest mother and grandmother and the loudest in the stands when she watched them play sports, often boasting about them to whomever would listen. Peggy loved family get-togethers her last wish was that we have a big party to celebrate our love for and our time with her. As such, a Celebration of Life will be held on December 23, 2023, from 1 - 3 p.m. at the Penn Yan Moose Club located at 301 E Elm St, Penn Yan, NY 14527. Friends and family are invited to join together to honor Peggy's life and share their memories as well as some of her favorite BBQ chicken. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to The Humane Society of Yates County, PO Box 12, Penn Yan, NY 14527, in Peggy's memory. She had a deep love for animals, and supporting this organization would be a meaningful way to honor her life.

I will never forget her screaming for Tommy at football games. She was a little lady but you always knew where she was - as did the other teams I am sure. She was always so full of life and always nice to me when I would see her. May her memories be a blessing to all of you. Sorry for your loss.

It was so nice to sit next to Peg at a recent gathering she was so happy and grateful to be back in Penn Yan. Our visit was all that has described Peg. She shared her pride in her family as she enjoyed her chicken bbq, declaring that "Tommy" made the best bbq ever.
