Francis D. "Frank" Hackett

1921 - 2017

Francis (Frank) D. Hackett, age 96, of Lecanto FL, passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2017, at Arbor Court Lodge of Brentwood, Lecanto, FL. Frank was born March 3, 1921, in Boston MA to the late John and Gertrude (Carter) Hackett. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army Air Corps. After his military service, Frank went on to earn a Master's Degree and worked in education as both a teacher and a high school Principal. On September 2, 1944, he married Dorothy (Head) Wells and became father to her five year old daughter Kathy. They shared 64 years of marriage until her passing on December 1, 2013. Frank and Dot made Citrus County their home in 1994 after relocating from NH and worshipped at the Beverly Hills Community Church, Beverly Hills, FL. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing. He enjoyed reading and was a master of jigsaw puzzles. Frank also enjoyed playing golf and softball, having played in a 55 and older league until he was 80 years of age.
Those left to mourn Frank are his daughter Kathleen Jackson and her husband David of Inverness, FL; brothers: John Hackett of Rochester, NH and James (Dyna) Hackett of Hillsdale, WY; Grandchildren: Heather (David) Pearlswig, Cynthia Cox, and Eli (Cameron) Jackson; and great grandchildren: Amanda, Ian, Sean, Collins and Davis. In addition to his wife Dorothy, he was preceded in death by brothers: William, Charles and David and sisters: Christine and Helen.
A celebration of Frank's life is planned for Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 11:00 from at the Beverly Hills Community Church, Beverly Hills, FL with Pastor Stewart Jamison officiating. Following the memorial service, Frank's urn will be laid to rest alongside Dot at the Epping Cemetery in Epping, NH. Cremation care is under the direction of the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL.
