Glen Martin Obituary

Glen Martin came into this world on June 15, 1959. Born in Karlsruhe, Germany, he became an avid traveler (army brat). He landed in Homosassa (Citrus County) in 1976 where he met his wife, Peggy Crippen Martin. Daughters Beth Martin and Amy Martin were a wonderful addition as life continued. In the last two years Glen also took on a new role as "Pop Pop" to his 2 year old grandson, Trenton Martin. He absolutely loved his family and adored his grandson.
On February 21st, 2016, Glen Martin passed away, following a lengthy illness. Glen was the son of the late Laurie Mack Martin (Homosassa) and Brigitte Martin (Germany). Survivors include his wife, Peggy Martin (Crystal River), Daughters, Beth and Alisha Martin (Riverview), and Amy Martin, grandson, Trenton Martin (Crystal River), brothers Karl Martin and Roy Mack Martin (Homosassa).
Glen worked with Citrus County School Board for over 26 years. He was a very dedicated hard worker. You know that "run circle around you" kind of guy. He was operator of heavy equipment; many of his early years with the school board, he worked as Head Custodian at Lecanto High School. His wife Peggy teaches at Crystal River Middle School.
Music soothed Glen's soul throughout his life. He was very much into his music. He also loved animals of all kinds, but ironically was not a people person. Glen's happiest place was sitting on the beach with a fishing pole in hand and the sun on his back. He had many fishing stories, some were true and then there were those that were a tad bit exaggerated. Glen was a great man; he always rooted for the underdog and would always listen to some one's heart ache. His strength and his weakness was his German STUBBORNESS. The man would stand solid as a rock if he thought the means justified it, even when it was not in his best interest. Glen always thought he was not worth the bother, but in reality he was a Great Man who was very deserving. He did not like commotion and would just go without to avoid such chaos. I (we) will miss him greatly.
The family will receive friends at 3:30 p.m., Thursday, February 25th, 2016 at Strickland Funeral Home located on Hwy 19, Crystal River. Memorial service will begin directly after, promptly at 4 p.m. Family and friends will have the opportunity to share "Glen" stories, please think about sharing. The closest article of clothing that he owned that was designer was his "Fruit of the Looms." Therefore, attire for the service is absolute casual; Glen was very much a jean kind of man.
Husband, Dad, Pop Pop, Brother In-Law, Brother, Uncle, Son, we will miss you. You are forever in our hearts! It is not good bye, it's See Ya Later!
