Mary Barfield Obituary
There will be a celebration of her life on Nov. 7, at 1 p.m. in Inverness, Florida, at Citrus Shrine Club, 468 N. Woodlake Drive. We will remember her the way our family often gathers for many occasions, in the midst of good home cookin' so feel free to bring a covered dish to share and enjoy.
Ms. Barfield was born in Lee County, Georgia on Dec. 1, 1947. She grew up there surrounded by many friends and family. She moved to Citrus County in 1975. She will be remembered for her love of family, her strong commitment as a mother, her sense of humor, and for her cooking, especially her trademark chocolate layer cake.
She was a constant in a world of uncertainty and will surely be missed. Ms. Barfield is survived by her husband of 18 years, David E. Johnson; a daughter, Lawanna Barfield Lammer, of Inverness, Florida; a son, Jason Barfield, of Oxford, Florida.; two stepsons, Jamie and Dylan Johnson; 3 grandchildren, Jesselyn Lammer, and Brianna and Rufus Barfield; 2 step-
grandchildren, Morgan and Mallory Johnson. She was preceded in death by her son, Lawrence Douglas "Doug" Barfield, III; her parents, Lester and Verna Etheridge of Lee County; her sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Wallace Turner; her brother, Wilbon Etheridge; and her children's father, Lawrence Douglas "Larry"Barfield, Jr.

I am so sorry for your loss. Linda was one of my best friends - since the 8th grade. We rode the school bus together for years. She was always special and beautiful! Heaven has another angel.

Not only were we classmates, sister-in-laws, but best friends. We shared tears(joy as a well sadness) and we loved the same people since high school. I will truly miss her, her smile, and her encouraging words. Lawanna and Jason, she was always praising you and shared how much she loved you and her grandchildren. I know your heart is much heavier than mine but know she loved you unconditionally. Dave, you were her constant "rock" and will miss her daily. Know that all of you are in our prayers. Love you all.
