Wilbur Eschen Obituary

Wilbur James Eschen, 94, Hernando passed away Feb 20, 2018 in Citrus Memorial Hospital in Inverness. Mr. Eschen was born in Suffern, NY on September 14, 1923 to the late James and Eugenie (Miller) Eschen and came to Hernando in 2015 from Jacksonville, FL. He was a retired educator, having taught at Suffern, NY High School for 21 years. Afterwards, he served the Athletic Department in several capacities at Potsdam State University for 8 years, coaching baseball during his tenure. Wilbur served our country in the U.S. Army during WWII.
Left to cherish his memory are his three sons: James Eschen and wife Nancy of Jacksonville, FL; Richard Eschen and wife Carla, Hernando, FL; Thomas Eschen and wife Mary of Cazenovia, NY; 9 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Mabel Eschen, February 24, 2008.
Wilbur's life will be remembered and celebrated on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 11:00 AM from the Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home in Suffern, NY. Burial will follow in Airmont-Lutheran Cemetery in Suffern, N.Y. Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home assisted the family in Inverness, Florida.
