William "Dale" Hughes, aka "Bill, aka "Ollie", aka "Uncle", aka "Dad", aka "Papa", 79, of Crystal River, passed away March 12, 2022 at Bravera Health Seven Rivers Hospital, Crystal River. He was born February 9, 1943 to the late Ancil and Hulda (Dick) Hughes, in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Mr. Hughes has lived in Florida for over 70 years and for the last 45 years he has been a resident of Citrus County. He was a veteran of the US Army. He liked to supervise his friends and family on their various projects. He was a heavy equipment operator, truck driver, and he owned and operated a few family owned businesses. Hobbies included wood working, metal working, handyman, and was an avid motorcycle rider, taking annual cross country trips on his Honda Goldwing "Wing". He had the contagious "Hughes" laugh and you couldn't help but laugh with him. He attended Gulf to Lake church in Crystal River and was a devout Christian.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Brian Hughes (Jill) of Buford, GA, Jason Hughes, (Charity) of Williston, FL, and Courtney Armstrong, (James), of Bronson, FL.
Also survived by 7 grandchildren, Lauryn Armstrong, James Lee Armstrong, Logan Armstrong, Gabriel Hughes, Daniel Hughes, Sarah Hughes, and Elijah Hughes.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased in death by his brother Earl and his sister Caroline.
Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of his life on Saturday March 19, 2022 (please contact family for location)
Cremation with care, under the direction of Chas E. Davis Funeral Home, Inverness, FL.
In lieu of flowers, donations, while not necessary, may be given at the celebration of life ceremony.
