Lucy Ward Obituary
Lucy M., died peacefully on April 9, 2016. Age 92. Lucy M. Ward was born on August 31, 1923 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Beloved wife to the late Ashley F. Ward, Jr. Beloved mother to Ashley F. Ward III, William H. Ward (Nancy), Sarah S. Ward, and Lucy L. Ward. Beloved mother-in-law to Nancy B. Ward. Beloved grandmother to Ashley F. Ward IV, Elizabeth W. Strang, William H. Ward, Jr., Hayley C. Ward, Anne E. Ward, Taylor W. Shell, and Kelsey W. Shell. Beloved great grandmother to Aidan J. H. Ward, and Charlotte E. Strang (expected in June). Lucy attended Withrow High School and the University of Cincinnati. Lucy was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. Lucy was a longtime board member of Planned Parenthood of Greater Cincinnati. She spent many years volunteering there and at the Cincinnati Art Museum as well. Lucy generously supported a wide array of community organizations. Lucy lived an active life---volunteering at her children's schools, competing in tennis and cards and traveling the world with her husband and friends. Lucy visited some 42 countries in her lifetime. Lucy had a hearty laugh and loved a good party. Lucy was a loyal friend to so many people from those she grew up with to those who took care of her at the end of her life. Lucy was known for her creativity, generosity and sense of humor. Lucy M. Ward was a member of the Cincinnati Country Club, Wyoming Golf Club, and the Wyoming Presbyterian Church. Services will be held with family only and are private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Planned Parenthood of Greater Cincinnati 2314 Auburn Ave. Cincinnati, Ohio 45219, The Alzheimer's Association of Greater Cincinnati 644 Linn St. Ste. 1026 Cincinnati, Ohio 45203, or to the charity of one's choice.

I didn't know you, which from the rich description of your life is my loss. I thank you though, for your support of Planned Parenthood over the years. I am not affiliated with the organization, but have taken advantage of its many services, especially in my youth. Without the support of people like you, that might not have been possible. May you rest in peace, Ms. Ward.
