Phyllis, nee Shapiro, age 86, passed away December 26, 2016 in New York, NY, beloved wife of the late Martin Sewell, devoted mother of Charles & Amy Sewell of New York, NY, dear sister of Sylvia Mellman of Columbus, OH, loving grandmother of Raquelle & Samantha Sewell, aunt of Alan Stein, Mark Mellman & Randy Oze. Services Weil Funeral Home, 8350 Cornell Rd. Thursday, Dec. 29, 2:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to Jewish Federation of Cincinnati, United Way of Cincinnati or The Cincinnati Chapter of Cystic Fibrosis Foundation would be appreciated.

Dear Phyllis Sewell's family - I was very sorry to learn of your loss. Phyllis was an inspiration to me in my community work with Federated/Macy's through the years. For both United Way and our employee volunteer program, Partners in Time, she asked thought-provoking questions that strengthened our outreach and recognition. I was honored to have her serve as a judge for our Carol Reiser national volunteerism awards, named for the founder of our volunteer program. She was a role model for me and I'll miss her.
