Sorry for your loss. Had Professor Laubenthal a few times at UC and found him to be a fair and wise collaborator.

Mrs Laubenthal, my prayers go out to you and your family. As a student of Ray's, late 90's rendering DAAP class, my heart stopped to hear this news.
Ray Laubenthal has to be one of the most intriguing, captivating and inspiring gentlemen in my life. He was a constant encouragement and motivator, he had a witty personality and the friendliest and most approachable smile! His cup of coffee, Khaki pants and greeting upon entering our class every day, Well, hello there! was a highlight in my years at DAAP. I truly enjoyed your husband and grateful for the way he brought out the best in me as a person! I know his legacy will live on through each of us as we go through our careers - as he would say, Well, I know that.

Aww Ray, doggonit, I'm reminded of some sweet times at the lake with you pressing my dad for stories and of course our forays fly fishing the Sturgeon. Those fish never had better friends than you and I. :-)
God speed brother and I 'm sure you'll find a dappled stream full of brookies at the end of your portage.

Dear Susie,
Mary & I were shocked to hear such sad news about Rays passing. We were so fortunate to have just seen him three weeks earlier at our Christmas get together. We have such fond memories of Ray and what a wonderful gentlemen he was. We will truly miss our conversations about Michigan and Burt lake and also his beloved Bearcat football and basketball teams. Ray was a person of great charater and incredible integrity. We we so lucky to have known him for 30 plus years. We will miss him dearly but know he is in a great place rooting on his Bearcats. It is in this way that we will remember such a wonderful wonderful person in Ray. Our sincere condolences and sympathy to you Susie and the rest of your family. We love you very much.
