Charlotte/Mars Hill - Marvin Ray Edmonds passed away at his home August 23, 2011 after a lengthy illness. Marvin was born October 29, 1949 in Madison County where he grew up. He had resided in Charlotte, NC for the past 27 years and retired from First Union (Wells Fargo) Bank after 31 years of service. Marvin is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Mary Callahan Edmonds, three brothers; Billy, Guy and Horace Edmonds.

He is survived by a son, James Ronald Edmonds of Los Angeles, Calif., a stepson, Jeff Griffith of Weaverville, stepdaughter, Delena Griffith of Aiken, SC, a brother, Johnie Edmonds and wife Beatrice of Weaverville, sister, Irene Crain and husband V. J. of Charlotte, NC, nieces; Brenda Meetze, Kathey Yarborough, Margaret Gardner, Mary Marler, Gail Ledford and LaDonna Craine, nephews; Randall and Freddy Crain, Jerry and Terry Edmonds.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, August 27, 2011 in Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service, Mars Hill. Rev. Cline Hensley Jr. will officiate. Burial will follow in Upper Laurel Baptist Church Cemetery, Mars Hill. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 PM Friday at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at the Edmonds home place on Big Laurel Rd.
