Charles R. Newell Sr.

Charles R. Newell Sr. of Dallas passed away peacefully with dignity at his home on Saturday, July 8, 2017. He was also known as Charlie, the "Ole Boy" and the Chief.

Born March 27, 1941, he was the son of the late LeRoy and Rose Butry Newell of Noxen.

Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were his brother, Roy Newell, and sister, Patricia Newell.

Surviving are his wife of 56 years, the former Sandra Martin, and their dog, Ms. Vegas; children, Tammy Rattigan and her husband, Dean, Shavertown; Charles "Chip" Newell, Montrose; and Heidi Kozlowski and her husband, Dave, Sweet Valley; grandchildren, James "Trapper" Smith and his wife, Lindsay, Matthew Rattigan, April Rattigan, Sarah Kozlowski and Jeffrey Kozlowski; great-grandchildren, Jaxton, Kolbie and Delaney Smith; as well as his brother, Richard Newell, Noxen.

Charles worked and retired from Procter & Gamble, Mehoopany.

He was a lifelong hunter, fisherman and great outdoorsman. He was also a member of the 20 Limited Hunting Cabin and South Mountain Land Association. He had many years of enjoyment at his cabin in Wyalusing.

We would like to thank the Celtic Hospice and Home Health Care for all their support and kindness.

A celebration of life will be held at the "Friendly Hut" in August.
