Marie Rita Disanferdinando Giuliano, 98, of Pittston, passed away Friday, August 6, 2021, at United Methodist Homes, Wesley Village, Jenkins Twp.
Born in Pittston on Feb. 13, 1923, she was the daughter of the late John and Fortunata Campenni Disanferdinando.
She was a graduate of Pittston High School and the Pittston Hospital School of Nursing. She was a member of St. Joseph Marello Parish, Pittston.
Marie truly loved her family. She devoted her life to making a beautiful home that was welcoming to all. She loved shopping, monthly casino trips and being sure that her family and friends left with a little bit of something. Even while being a resident of Wesley Village, she was still making sure that everyone left with a piece of candy or something to eat. She and her husband attended sporting events, dance recitals and many school functions for all of their family. She had a special love for animals, especially the numerous cats that filled her life with joy. She had a huge heart and in her own way left you with many lessons on life.
Along with her parents and husband Anthony, Marie was preceded in death by brother, Dominick Disanferdinando; sisters, Catherine Ranieli; and Jean Palmieri; brother-in-laws, Frank Ranieli; Richard Uter; and Guido Palmieri; and son-in-laws, William Vassell Jr.; and Tom Pepperling.
Marie was married to the late Anthony Giuliano for 66 years and was blessed with two devoted daughters, Mary Beth Vassell, Duryea; and Frances Ann Pepperling, Yatesville.
Her most rewarding moments were spent with her seven grandchildren, Frank Carey (Amanda); Mary Elizabeth Hando Cour (Marque); Jennifer Dominick (Joseph); Felicia Polt (Karl); William Vassell III (Kristy); Michael Carey (Jessica); and Nadine Vassell.
Giving her endless joy were her 15 great-grandchildren, Anthony James, Ryen, Karl Nicholas, Konnor, Madisyn, Laila, Jailyn, William John IV, Jackson, Abigail, Zoey, Mason, Veronica, Danica and Koury; and step-great-grandsons, Zachary, Jeremy and Avery. Also surviving are her sister, Connie Uter, Kingston; and sister-in-law, Rose Martorano, Jenkins Twp.; along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday in St. John the Evangelist Church, William Street, Pittston.
