Roberta Gardner Obituary

Roberta Gardner, 91, formerly of Orange, died Tuesday evening at The Meadows Nursing Center, Dallas.

Born in Orange, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Nellie Dymond Eaton.

She was a graduate of the former Westmoreland High School. For many years, she was owner and operator of the Gardner Grocery Store of Orange. She was a member of the Orange United Methodist Church and its various groups and was the church organist for 78 years.

She was also a member of the Franklin Township Fire Department's Ladies Auxilary and the Order of Eastern Star Tunkhannock, Chapter 74.

Preceding her in death was her loving husband, Samuel, who passed away in 1995.

Surviving are her son; Robert, and his wife, Judith, West Nanticoke; grandaughter, Nicole Gardner; three great-grandchildren; sister, Janet Zarno, Franklin Township; brother, Everal Eaton, Franklin Township; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in Metcalfe and Shaver Funeral Home Inc., 504 Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, with Leslie Halchak, pastor of Orange United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Eaton Cemetery, Franklin Township. Friends may call Thursday, 6 to 8 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to Orange United Methodist Church, 1633 W. Eighth St., Wyoming, PA 18644.
