David Vigoda Obituary

David Vigoda, 90, died peacefully October 28, 2012. He was a dearly beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was a loving husband of 49 years to Delores Ann (Stanley) Vigoda of Sharon. He was an adoring father to his daughter Valerie Roslene Vigoda of Watertown, and doting grandfather to Nina Rose Vigoda. He was also loved and survived by his sister Ruth Dranoff of Sharon, his nieces, nephew, grandniece, grandnephew and his many friends. He was predeceased by his siblings William Vigoda and Edna Berkowitz.

Born and raised in Boston, he was a graduate of Tufts University and Boston School of Law. Mr. Vigoda was a WWII Veteran of the US Army and served as a medic. He loved to teach and was a Professor at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy for 25 years. He also worked as an Assistant Attorney General for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in the Drug Law Division and was the composer of many Massachusetts state drug laws. Prior to his work as a lawyer, he worked as a Psychologist and Social Worker at the Boston State Hospital. He was a founding officer of the Massachusetts Association of Older Americans (MAOA) and a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association.

He had a kind and generous nature. A tireless advocate, he dedicated his life to helping other people. He was a lover of books who enjoyed enormously his elaborate and eclectic home library. His friends and loved ones will miss his clever wit.

Visiting hours will be held at 83 Deerfield Road in Sharon, MA on Sunday, November 4 from 12-6 PM. (Mr. Vigoda was a member of the Anatomical Gift Program at Harvard University). Arrangements by Farley Funeral Home, Stoughton.
