I worked with John a number of years at the Fire Marshal's Office. He always offered his assistance, regardless the task and treated me with undeserved kindness. I share your loss. May the resurrection of Christ provide comfort to you and your family. Rick Fay

So sorry to read of John's passing. John and I roomed at his grandmother's rooming house when we were both a K-State. Although a great deal of time has passed since then, I still remember the fun we shared while rooming together at "Ma's". My heart felt condolences to the entire family.

My daughters will always remember John. John always welcomed our cats at this house. Many times I found the cats sitting next to John on his front porch steps. I still go out my front door hoping to see John on his front steps.
John will also be remembered for the way he cared for his yard. My girls knew every five days John would be out mowing. I yearn to hear my daughters complain one more time... is that John out mowing his yard again?
I will remember John as a devoted K-State fan. I remember his description of the K-State games on Sunday mornings. It was better than listening to John Madden. The pride he held for KSU football and Bill Snyder was heard in his voice. My daughters and I attended many KSU football games because of his generosity. On away games John and I would hang our K-state flags outside waiting for the kickoff.
John... "Every MAN a Wildcat."
John and I started a tradition may years ago. If I got up first I would get my newspaper and lean his against his front door. If John got up first he would lean my against my front door. I yearn already to open my front door in the early morning and see John there again.
I will also remember his son's in the driveway every Sunday during NFL season. Both of his son's were there before the early game kickoff. I think they stayed until 6:00 or until they gave up on Kansas City Chiefs.
In John's memory, beginning in August of 2008 there will be one K-State flag hanging on each side of my front door.
John, I love you man.

I worked with John for 11 years at the Kansas State Fire Marshal Office. Even though I did not know him well outside of the office, my memories of my working relationship with him was that he was always smiling and laughing and we often talked about sports. He was a pleasant person to be around and seemed to be a very giving person. He will be missed. My condolences go out to his family.

I have had the pleasure of working with John for the past 8 years. He was not only a great co-worker, but a good friend as well. John was always willing to help at work and his upbeat attitude while battling cancer was an inspiration to us all. John was always putting the needs of others ahead of his own. He was a great guy and he will be missed very much. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.
