Dennis Otte, age 69, of Clarinda, entered into peace Tuesday, Sept. 13 at his home rural Clarinda. Funeral services were held 10:30 a.m., Friday, Sept. 16 at Ritchie Funeral Home, Clarinda with Reverend Dan Wiebesiek officiating. Open visitation was held at the funeral home Thursday, Sept. 15 after 2 p.m. Burial was in the Clarinda Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Clarinda Fire Department or to the donor's choice. Dennis William Otte was born May 7, 1947 in Clarinda to Clyde Otte and LaVose (Johnson) Otte. He grew up in the Clarinda area and graduated from Clarinda High School in 1965. Dennis joined the National Guard while still in High School. He was united in marriage to Peggy Jackson September 9, 1966 in Clarinda, Iowa. They were blessed with two children, Darin and Angie.
Dennis enjoyed his life as a truck driver. He started at an early age trucking with his father for Otte Trucking. He enjoyed working with the area farmers delivering grain and livestock with his straight truck. Dennis also drove for Keane Thummel Trucking and Dave Stickler. When Dennis semi-retired, he and Peg spent fifteen winters in Hudson, Florida where they enjoyed the weather and their many friends.
Dennis was a big fan of NASCAR racing; Dale Earnhardt and Kyle Busch were two of his favorites. Other interests included Fantasy Football and watching game shows. Family was very important to Dennis and his grandkids were very special to him. He enjoyed being with family and his many friends.
Preceding Dennis in death were his parents, Clyde and LaVose Otte; brother-in- law and sister-in-law, Norval and Linda Oline; sister-in-law, Joy Jackson and his grandparents.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 50 years, Peg Otte of Clarinda; son, Darin Otte of Kansas City, Missouri; daughter, Angie Wesselink and husband Troy of Newton; grandchildren, Jordynn and Trey Wesselink of Newton; nephew, Kory Oline of Kansas City; niece, Kody Green and husband Lonnie Jr of Virginia Beach and many friends.
Dennis enjoyed life and will be missed by his loving family and many friends. May God grant comfort and peace to those who mourn his passing.
