To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Herman shared kindness and support like no other, introduced me to a world of music and film and books and art I would never have discovered on my own, and served as one of the best examples of a parent I've ever come across. He is dearly missed by his family of friends, but we will strive to keep his spirit alive within and around us.

At this difficult time, no one knows what words to say, but may God be with you to comfort and keep you day by day. Herman was a very kind sweet and gentle person. Out of all the years I have known him he was always soft spoken, he never had a harsh word to say. I never saw him get upset with anyone, and if he was ever sad he never let it show. He will always be remembered by the life he led, so as you listen to each story that's shared take comfort in knowing that he touched a lot of lives and that his love will live on through his family. So always keep Herman in your heart and the two of you will never part.

I stayed with Herman in Hattiesb while working for the American (as a photographer) from 2002 - 2003. He had the most wonderful way of dealing with me. The stories I could tell you! I regret not visiting or keeping in better contact with him but I knew he always had friends who popped in and out of his life like magic. And that's what he was "pure magic"!

I was terribly saddened by the news of Herman’s passing. I offer my deepest sympathies to his family.
I worked with Herman for the last 5 years & found him to be a truly unique person. He had a tremendous love of the arts & of the Jackson area. He was my go to person for what was happening. We shared stories about our kids and many times I sought his advice on whether certain concert venues were appropriate for my teenagers.
Because of his extraordinary ability to analyze situations & offer solutions he was often my sounding board when I encountered difficult situations at work.
I will miss him greatly.

I worked with Herman for the past 5 years...his attention to detail made him stand out! He always had a story to share, was ever ready to give help on a project, loved to talk about anything and everything and was well versed on most topics! I enjoyed admiring the art and collectibles he displayed around the office. We talked about our children. He was so proud of Loden! And finally, boy that man had self-confidence! What a loss he must be to your family...
he will surely be missed by all of us! So sorry for your loss.

Herman will be missed by Personal Finance Company - he has managed our solicitation efforts through Sourcelink for 3 1/2 years now. He had become a friend as well as account manager.
