Susan Sleeper Henderson

Susan Sleeper Henderson died early Saturday morning following a prolonged illness with myasthenia gravis and pancreatic cancer.

Susan was born in Kansas City, Kansas on May 24. 1957, and was the daughter of Frank and Sally Sleeper. Susan grew up in New Orleans and in Jackson, Mississippi. She graduated from Callaway High School in 1976, and received a degree from Hinds Community College two years later.

After college she worked as a model and representative for Banana Boat Tanning and Skincare Products. Later she worked as a distributor for Gianni Versace and owned the two Noah's Ark Pet Stores in the Jackson, Mississippi area.

Following her marriage in 2000, she went back to college and earned degrees from Holmes Community College and from Coahoma Community College. She bought property outside Senatobia, Mississippi in 2006, and worked as a nurse in Memphis and northwest Mississippi until becoming disabled by ill health in 2018.

Susan's ashes will be spread over three locations: Upon her parents' graves in Chicago, Illinois; upon her pet's graves at her home in Tate County; and the remainder are to be placed in her husband's grave upon his death. In Memoriam donations may be made to the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America or to the American Cancer Society.

She was a member of the Congregationalist Church of Western Springs, IL and was a life-long Republican.

Susan is survived by her husband, Hugh Brian Henderson of Senatobia, MS; by a brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Julia Sleeper of Fairfax, VA; by a niece and nephew, Charlotte Sleeper and Russell Sleeper of Fairfax, VA; and by her 6 dogs and 4 cats.
