Thomas "Buddy" White (age 70) loving husband of 48 years, father, grandfather, and brother passed away after a short illness on September 5, 2013 at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, MS.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Saturday, September 7, 2013 at Lakewood South Memorial Park in Jackson, MS. Visitation will begin at 12:00pm at Lakewood South Funeral Home.

Buddy graduated from Leflore County High School in Itta Bena in 1962. He started work at Clarion Ledger Newspaper in 1962 and retired from there 36 years later as production manager. He was a member of Daniel Memorial Baptist Church in Jackson for 45 years before joining Eastabubhie Baptist Church when he and his wife moved to Petal. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, any outdoors activities, especially coaching little league baseball.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Alethea White of Ruleville. Survivors include: wife, Mary Virginia White of Petal; daughter, Sherry Carpenter (Kevin) of Carthage; son, Rob White (Julie) of Johns; sisters, Charlotte Griffin of Byram, Janie Tate (Lyle) of Brandon; brother, Jessie White (Joann) of Brandon; grandchildren, Blake Carpenter, Mason White, John Robert White; brother-in-laws, Jim Blakeney (Mary Elizabeth) of Fairview, TN, Jay Blakeney of Petal; mother-in-law, Emily Blakeney of Hattiesburg; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

The family wishes to thank the Hattiesburg Clinic Pulmonary Department and Forrest General Hospital ICU Staff for the very special and loving care.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, nephews, and family friends.
