Daniel Walsh Obituary

Dr. Daniel Patrick Walsh, D.O.(78) of Westlake, Ohio, and St. Pete Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in St. Louis, Missouri, on September 20, 1947, to Sidney and Juanita Walsh. He is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Audrey (Brown) Walsh; his children J. Patrick Walsh, Jessica Wrobel, Allyson de la Houssaye (Brandon), and Albert Walsh; his sister Sydney (Walsh) Pennington (Robert); and his cherished grandchildren Roman, Daniel, Sydney, Emma, Beau, Albert, and Michael, as well as treasured nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Dan graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Florissant, Missouri, and earned an undergraduate degree in Geology from Southeast Missouri State University. In 1982, he received his Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine from the Kansas City College of Osteopathic Medicine and dedicated more than 30 years to the practice of emergency medicine.
A proud veteran, Dan served his country for nearly three decades as a Naval Officer in both active duty and the reserves, retiring with the rank of Captain.
He was passionate about foreign medical mission work, serving as a missionary in several countries and sponsoring young physicians through DOCARE International, an arm of osteopathic medicine focused on humanitarian service.
Dan's commitment to service was matched only by his deep love of family, the outdoors, and his passion for gardening, bird hunting, Brittany dogs, golfing, boating on Lake Erie, and his generosity toward others.
He was a proud member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity, was awarded the honor of being a "Significant Sig" and served on the Foundation Board of Governors.
Dan was known for his irreverent humor and sage advice. He was often quoted for reminding fellow hunters that there were only three rules to follow:"1. Don't shoot the dog. 2. Don't shoot the damn dog. 3. Don't shoot the goddamn dog."
A celebration of his life will be held at the Westlake United Methodist Church on Saturday Nov. 8th at 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shoes & Clothes for Kids, https://sc4k.org.
Or Sea Island Habitat for Humanity, https://seaislandhabitat.org.

Sending heartfelt condolences to Audrey and the family. I was a child when I attended Dan and my cousin Audrey´s wedding. I will always remember Dan´s smile.

What can I say about my Beloved Cousin, Danny Patrick? Everything as he meant everything to me!
He loved his wife Audrey, his children and grand children beyond words. His bond with his sister, Sydney, was so deep and loving. He loved to tease us all anytime, anyway. Syd , my sister Maureen and I were always on his radar, screaming as he pranked us unmercifully all while laughing with that mischievous Dan grin!
He loved hunting with his Dad and Uncles and his Brittany dogs. Being in the field with them was everything to him!
His professional accomplishments were outstanding and I remember how proud we were at his Naval retirement ceremony piping him off the ship for the last time. He told me of all that he has done in medicine he enjoyed being in the ER the most.
I could go on and on with stories that I will cherish the rest of my days and look forward to when I see him on the other side! I love you Dan and will miss you beyond words.
My heart goes out to the family and everyone who has known and loved him! For he loved dearly and fiercely!
Miss you Big Guy!
Your Cuz,
Mary Lou

Uncle Dan was my dad´s godfather, and my dad always felt that Dan filled that role in spades. Furthermore, he extended intentional thoughtfulness and care onto me, his "grand-God son". I´ll never forget the sweet red RC sports car Dan got me as a kid. Stories of Dan will continue to be told; he will be missed.
