Jim Wainwright Obituary

Jim Wainwright, 70, of Fleming, GA, entered into the Gates of Heaven on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 after his valiant fight with pulmonary fibrosis. He was born on February 9, 1941 in Savannah, GA to parents Henry Jack and Vera Sweat Wainwright. He was one of 14 children and twin brother to Johnny, who preceded him in death. Jim spent most of his childhood at Bethesda Boys Home and was a 1960 graduate of Savannah High School. He served his country honorably in the United States Army and was an insurance salesman for Independent Life Insurance Company. He was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Daniel Baptist Church. Jim was an avid treasure hunter who loved going to the beach to look for gold and going to garage sales with his family. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an inspiration to many. Jim was predeceased by his parents and 9 of his siblings. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him dearly. Survivors include his loving wife of 51 years, Nadine Wainwright; children, Janie (Rusty) Carter, Donna (Michael) Minigh, Jimmy Clyde (Tracy) Wainwright, Sr. and Timothy Wainwright, Sr.; sisters, Margie (Robert) Lindsey and Marie (Dave) Elliot; brothers, Jessie (Gail) Wainwright and Tom (Shirley) Wainwright; sister-in-laws, Carrel Gilmer and Johnny Speir; brother-in-law, Ricky (Carol) Haynes; grandchildren, Jessica Hart, Allison Wilson, Alan and Ashleigh Wittkamp, Jeffrey Minigh, Jimmy C. Wainwright, Jr., Christine Fritch, Alyssa Kaempfer, Brittany and Kensie Wainwright, Kalyn, Kristen, Timothy, Jr. and Zachary Wainwright; great-grandchildren; Braylin, Madison, Colin, Aubree and Quest; and numerous special nieces and nephews who have been such great support throughout this battle. He will also be missed dearly by his sweet dog "Bonnie" in whom he found great comfort during his long battle. The family will receive friends Thursday, December 29, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Richmond Hill Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 30, 2011 at Daniel Baptist Church with Rev. Alfred Banks officiating. Interment will follow in Daniel Baptist Cemetery with military honors. The family would like to thank all of the staff of Savannah Hospice who has helped them through one of the hardest times of their life. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Jim's honor to the Savannah Hospice at P.O. Box 13190 Drive Savannah, GA 31416. Arrangements are under the care of Richmond Hill Funeral Home.

I feel that I lost my Papa too soon, but I am thankful that he is now at peace in heaven. I will always cherish his memory, and never forget what he used to say "See ya here, See ya there, or I'll see ya in the air!".

Don't think of him as gone away
his journey's just begun
life holds so many facets
this earth is only one.

Just think of him as resting
from the sorrows and the tears
in a place of warmth and comfort
where there are no days and years.

Think how he must be wishing
that we could know today
how nothing but our sadness
can really pass away.

And think of him as living
in the hearts of those he touched
for nothing loved is ever lost
and he was loved so much.
