Barbara Ann Bermudez of Lincoln, Calif, passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at the age of 95. Barbara was born to parents Ernest and Mary Potters on April 16, 1921 in Valley Stream, New York. She grew up as the middle of three and attended Valley Stream Central High School. She attended Cornell University and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics and graduated with the class of 1943. Barbara went on to teach and write for the New York Times founding the Baby Column.
In 1948 she came to Los Angeles and continued her teaching career and also contributed to the Los Angeles Times as the Food Editor.
In 1952 she married Dr. Diego Bermudez and started their family in Downey, Ca. In 1969 the family moved to Los Banos, Ca. and in 1972 the family settled in Morgan Hill, Ca. where she was active in the St.Catherine's Parish Choir and their education program.
Barbara moved to Lincoln in 2001 and was a soloist in the Lincoln Hills Singers, The Entertainers, and the Vaudeville Troupe. She attended Elder Hostels and traveled with friends. Barbara is survived by her daughter, Ann; her son, Richard; her son John; and four grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her son David. She loved life, music and her family and saw the world as wonderful.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 12 from 2:30 to 4:30 in the Meridians restaurant Solarium Room in Lincoln.
