Dorothy King Obituary

Galloway - DOROTHY MAE KING, 74, passed away Tuesday, March 4 atSt. Francis Hospital Bartlett. The wife of J. D. King, who survives, she was a homemaker. She was born June 5, 1933, in Arlington, daughter of the late Guilford and Mattie Elizabeth Carter Land and lived in Galloway since 1973. She was an active member of Galloway Baptist Church and enjoyed cooking for church fellowships. Services are 2 pm Friday, March 7 at Shackelford Funeral Directors chapel in Bolivar with Joe Smith officiating. Burial is in Big Springs Cemetery near Medon. Visitation is from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Thursday, March 6 and from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Friday, March 7 at the funeral home. In addition to her husband, whom she married on March 9, 1973, survivors include a daughter and her husband, Janie and Bill Rauch of Chaffee, MO; four sons and their wives, David Connell and Wayne and Dawn Connell, all of Oakland, James King and Jerry and Carol King, all of Nashville; a sister, Eva Jane Nowell of Cordova; seven grandchildren and three great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Land. The family requests memorials be directed to the Children’s Foundation Research Center of Memphis, 50 N. Dunlap Ave., Room 401, W.
