Joy Carol Anthony

Ripley - JOY CAROL ANTHONY was born September 28, 1930 in Redlands, CA and died February 7, 2008 in Plano, TX. Joy attended grade school at Hollywood Professional Children's School in California. She later appeared as a child extra in three 1930's feature films. Joy married Edmund J. Anthony in Ripley, TN on December 24, 1950 and graduated from Howard Payne University in Texas the next year. After moving to Tennessee in the 1960's, Joy taught English, Speech, and Drama in Rutherford County at Holloway, Central, and Riverdale high schools. Joy was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Murfreesboro, TN. She also volunteered often with the Murfreesboro Little Theatre. Joy's regional acting and directing credits spanned five decades. Joy was preceded in death by her husband, Edmund Anthony; her parents, Dr. Clyde and Dorothy Garrett; and a brother. She is survived by one aunt, Joy Marie Thune of California; sons and daughters-in laws, Jay and Jayne' Anthony of Plano, TX; John and Theresa Anthony of Estill Springs, TN; Paul and Lynn Anthony of Murfreesboro, TN; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa Carol and Edward Frey of Meridian, MS; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
