Louisa Brown Obituary

Louisa Mae "Mouie Brown, 53, went home to be with her Lord on Dec. 2, 2018.

Mouie was born on June 16, 1965, to Lupe Agnes Brown and Wauseka Brown Sr. She was born and raised in Chiloquin, Ore., where she was taught to know her native chores for a good life. In her younger summer days, her mother Lupe would take the family to their camp at Rocky Ford. This is where Mouie became skilled at picking wocus pods and drying it, cutting and drying deer meat, and picking huckleberries. She also learned how to dig roots and gather pine nuts with her grandparents George and Pearl Brown. Mouie knew many traditional chores and she also danced powwow in her younger years while being raised by a bronc rider. She wasn't scared to jump on a steer once in a while nor was she scared to hop in the boxing ring when her dad Wauseka would call on her. Mouie played softball for her sister, Tony and Blink's team "our gang," for many years, winning many championships. She played for Chiloquin Gunners and traveled to many all Indian tournaments throughout Indian country.

Mouie attended Chiloquin High School, Mazama High School, and later accomplished getting her GED. She worked as a firefighter and an archaeologist for the Winema Forest District. She also worked for Kla-Mo-Ya Casino as the surveillance director and later decided to work for the Klamath Tribes as a human resource administrator.

Mouie met the love of her life William "Billy" in 1994 and married him in 1996. She spent 22 years with her husband and they made many memories together. Mouie loved to have family events and BBQs at the Chiloquin Park. She participated in putting on the Klamath All-Indian Basketball Tournament. She also partook in judging during the Klamath Restoration Powwow. Mouie stepped into motherhood with the heart of a very blessed young woman. With ambition and drive, she raised her five children with class and honor, and most of all, to love the Lord. Mouie worked hard to maintain a good home and constantly reminded her kids to live a good life.

Survivors include her husband William Herrera; kids Aramus, Shasheena, Ramon, and Tiffany Jackson and Jaimo, Ezzard and Silas Jackson; grandchildren Lydia, Jai, Sasha, Kiiux, Sila, Handsome, Illana, Lynzzan, Demi, Blessing, Chauncey, Treyvon, Hayden, and Shakyla; great-grandson Greyson Lane; brothers and sisters Poco Brown, Renne and Crayton Jackson, Belinda Brown, Tianna and Chief Sanchey, Wauseka Brown Jr., Eldo Miller, and Videll Miller; brother-in-law Albert Wilder; and sisters-in-law Velma Miller and Rachel Miller; great-aunties and great-uncles Florence Brown, Arlie Brown and Irvin Brown; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Wauseka and Lupe Brown, grandson baby James Jackson, four brothers Cisco, Louie, Dino and Waukeen, and three sisters Georgie, Ceeweez and Latonne.
