Donna Gilbreath Obituary

Donna Gilbreath née Peterson died Thursday, April 27, 2017, at her daughter's home in Marina Del Rey, Calif. She was born in New Hampshire to Eleanor Littlefield and Vincent Peterson. Donna attended Concord schools, graduating with the Concord High School class of 1959.

Donna spent most of her life in Concord. She worked at Universal Packaging for many years. She then owned the quilt studio "In Stitches Quilting and Needlework" in downtown Concord for 11 years. Donna was a rare, cheerful person who brought happiness to all who knew her. She was the heart of a very close family. She passed her joy of life on to them.

Donna is survived by her husband, Dennis; her daughter, Katy; her son David, his wife, Sara and their daughter, Logan of Los Angeles; and her sisters, Jo-Ann and Carol.

Donna died of colorectal cancer. In spite of great suffering, she joked with caregivers at Santa Monica UCLA Hospital and at her daughter's home just days before her death.

A celebration of Donna's life will be held in July, date to be announced. Email Katy at [email protected]">[email protected]">[email protected]">[email protected] for details and other correspondence. Donna was the sweetest girl I have known, the love of my life - Dennis.

Dear David and family,
I am so sorry for your loss. I will never for get meeting you, David and Donna at Bittersweet when Donna invited me to her studio to begin to learn to quilt. She and I spent quite a bit of time together as I made my first quilt. Since then, I have made many quilts, always remembering the things Donna and I laughed at while we stitched the day away. She is a treasure! I wish to be kept up to date with local memorial plans, God Bless you!

Dennis and family, we are so very sorry to hear of Donna's passing. We always looked forward to our little visits with Donna and her big smile . With her battle with the cancer, she still always managed to smile and take the time to talk . Keep all you wonderful memories close during this hard time.

Dennis, Katy, David, Sara and Logan

It is with my deepest sympathy and my prayers I am sending you all this note.

Donna was a champion and true fighter.
The gleam in her eyes when she talked about you all was contagious. Logan was her joy and her and Dennis always bragged how smaht she was.

Dennis the love I saw that she has for you is nothing more than admiration to all of us.
Katy, David and Sara you always had her light up at just the sound of your names.
Heaven just received another angel and rest assured she is overlooking you all.
