George Gourgiotis Obituary

NORTHFIELD – George V. Gourgiotis, 55, of Northfield, died at his home Sunday, July 5, 2016.

George was born in Vouzion Domokou, Greece on Sept. 9, 1960, to Vassilios and Evangelia (Karveli) Gourgiotis.  He came to the U.S. in 1988 after meeting his wife. After many years of living in the United States, George proudly became an American citizen in July 2003.

George was a very driven man who taught himself how to read, write, and speak English. He worked for 28 years as a general manager of Dunkin Donuts in Tilton. George enjoyed golfing and was a member of the Lochmere Country Club since it's opening.  He also enjoyed his family and friends, playing poker, soccer, and making homemade wine. He was truly the most caring, happy, and loving person; he had such a big heart and generously shared it with so many people.

His legacy will live on through his wife of 28 years, Marianne (D'Abbraccio) Gourgiotis of Northfield; two children, William G. Gourgiotis of Laconia and Sophia Gourgiotis and her wife, Tiffany, of Tampa, Fla.; a brother, Ilias Gourgiotis of Greece, and many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be Friday, July 8, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Paquette-Neun Funeral Home, 104 Park St., Northfield.

The burial will be held on Saturday, July 9, at 12 p.m. at Park Cemetery.

My time with George was only spent at Lochmere Golf Club, over the past 25years. George was a classy character, he could rise and fall with the best of them,as he endured many a match in a game he loved so well. Always a gentleman, his gregarious personality was one of the things I loved about him the most. You will be missed.

Marianne,
Mike and I are so sorry to hear of your loss. We live in Georgia now and weren't aware he had been sick. I didn't know George really well, but during the times we had NHADA events/outings, I remember how nice and friendly he was. Mike remembers talking to George, especially about his love of golf. He thought George was s really nice guy. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

I am so sorry for your loss. George was a wonderful man. I learned so much working with him that I wish I had met him before I went to college... saved tuition. He was smart, funny, tough, kind and loving. The world will be less sparkly without him in it.

My deep sympathy to the family. I studied with Sophie and Tiffany in Tampa and did not meet Mr. Gourgiotis, but send my sincere goodwill and respect for your loss. Sophie and Tiffany both brought a spark to our community that I sure miss, and Sophie's loyalty and love for her father was a beautiful testament to her relationship with him.
