John Prendergast Obituary
A lifelong Concord resident, John attended St. John's Elementary School and St. John's High School. In 1954, he began working at Ferns Oil Company as a delivery driver and retired 42 years later as the Operations Manager.
John is survived by his wife of 61 years, Anne (Skeffington) Prendergast of Concord; two daughters, Noreen Prendergast Lavorgna of Rollinsford and her husband, Stephen, and Maureen Virginia Prendergast of Allenstown and her partner, Paul Deguise of Merrimack; three sons, Timothy John Prendergast of Sparta, N.J. and his wife, Donna, Martin Joseph Prendergast of Allenstown and his wife, Claudia and John Thomas Prendergast of Kittery, Maine and his partner, Carol Woodman; son-in-law, Douglas McGuirk of Danvers Mass.; grandchildren, Erin McGuirk, Brian McGuirk, Peter Prendergast, Carly Lavorgna, Jacqueline Lavorgna, Jennifer Prendergast and Dillon Prendergast; great-grandchildren, Gianna Lavorgna and Kinley McGuirk; sister, Nancy Desjardins of Port Orange, Fla.; and numerous sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
John was predeceased by his parents; his sisters, Mary Wooten, Helen Stokes and Shirely Mitchell; and Anne's and his beloved daughter, Eileen Prenergast McGuirk in 2012.
The family thanks all of the doctors, nurses, and nursing personnel who cared for John over the years.
Visiting hour will be held on Tuesday, June 30, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Waters Funeral Home, 50 South Main St., Concord.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. at Christ the King, St. John the Evangelist Church, 72 South Main St., Concord.
Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Concord.

My husband and I both had the honor of working with JP in the Ferns Energy / Irving Oil days. He was a great man and was respected by all of his co-workers. His quick dry wit(and that twinkle in his eye!) was often the highlight in a hectic day. No one fought for the drivers like he did-our lives certainly changed there when JP retired. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you all.

When I think of Uncle John, I see that slight smile he would give, where his eyes were the focal point of the smiling message that his quiet manner didn't tell. My thoughts are with you, Aunt Anne, Noreen, TJ, Joe & Maureen.

Anne, so sorry to hear about your husband, John. Even though I met and spoke to you and John at the cemetery in Concord in Oct. of 2012 after you visited your daughter's plot, I was so happy to see you again after so many years. You are such a wonderful person and I know John was tool Again so sorry to read about John's passing.

Mrs. Prendergast, John and Carol and family, we were so sorry to hear about your husband and father. I didn't really know him, but I would see him with your mother walking at the cemetery while I walked my dog. I assume Mark knew him as well. Take care.
