Floyd Lee Baker Sr.

1929 - 2023

Floyd Lee Baker Sr., 94, of Conroe, Texas, passed away on June 7, 2023. He was born on April 12, 1929, in Humble, Texas.

Floyd was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Irene Baker. Also survived by his children, Kay Meador and husband Trey Meador, Danon Downey, and Floyd Baker Jr.; his grandchildren, Blaine Meador and wife Nicole Meador, Corbett Meador, Brelan Smith and husband Mark Rhoden, and Tinzy Smith; and his great-grandchildren, Avery and Palmer Meador.

Floyd was a hard worker and a successful businessman. He started working at the age of 12 with his father. For over 60 years he spent his days leveling and moving houses. He also served as an Army Reservist for 17 years. Floyd loved the race track and anything with a motor. There was nothing he could not fix or build. After he retired, he enjoyed spending time with his family, telling old stories, riding his golf cart to the pond and driving to Burger Boy for lunch!

A funeral service will be held in The Chapel at Conroe Funeral Directors on Monday, June 12, 2023. Visitation from 10am with the service following at 11am in The Chapel. There will be a private family graveside service to follow. After the service please join us for lunch at Bill and Wilma's Garrett's home at 13263 FM 830, Willis, Texas (Just before Seven Coves) In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Meals on Wheels.

Floyd was a kind and gentle man who will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He will always be remembered for his love of family and his good stories. A special thank you to Bristol Hospice- Doris Witaker, Tim Ranek and Si Layman for their help.
