Kevin James O'Brien

Kevin James O'Brien passed away November 11, 2018, surrounded by love from his family. Kevin was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the second of five children born to Robert and Jeanne O'Brien. Kevin was many things including a Navy veteran, two- time cancer survivor and an avid sports fan, devoted to his San Francisco Giants and Miami Dolphins. Well known for his incredible work ethic and high standards, Kevin strived for excellence, meticulous in every detail. He expected the best out of everyone, a fair boss during his employment in San Diego (Stuart Anderson's), Las Vegas (The Rio), Reno (Silver Legacy) and Galveston (The Hotel Galvez). Challenging himself, Kevin went back to school to get his degree. Kevin received both his BA and MA with a perfect 4.0 GPA from the Conrad Hilton School of Hospitality at the University of Houston. Kevin sought to inspire others to never think it was too late to learn something new and make a positive impact on others. We want Kevin to always be remembered for his intelligence, devotion to family especially our parents, loyalty to his friends, wicked sense of humor, devilishly good looks who also had a great eye for a photo op with a pretty girl.
Kevin was preceded in death by his father, Robert J O'Brien, his grandparents James and Mary DeGregori and James and Ann O'Brien. Kevin is survived by his loving mother, Jeanne O'Brien and his four siblings: Kathi ( Don) David, Kenny ( Angelica) O'Brien, Kimberly ( Ron) Hammel and Kellee ( Bill) Harrigan. Kevin will always watch over his beloved nieces and nephews. In addition, Kevin leaves his uncle and Aunts and his many cousins. There just aren't any words to describe our tremendous loss of a son, brother, nephew, uncle, cousin and friend. Kevin lived life to the fullest. We should all be that fearless.
