I was unbelievably impressed any time I ran into Dave at his uncanny ability to remember thousands of peoples names from all over the country. I had the privilege to know Dave for 30+ years, and feel a deep loss at his passing. He was an advocate for working people who will not be easily replaced.
My deepest sympathy,
Dan Kolar

I only knew Dave as a jokester, someone who made me laugh constantly, was fun to be around and was always in a good mood. I'm bummed we lived so far away because I told my parents every year "let's go visit Uncle Dave." I remember one time he sent me a text message that he broke his arm at the bowling tournament and sent me a picture of a doctors office and an Xray of an arm with the bone in half. He went along with it for a few hours until my dad called him and found out he was pranking us. So a few months later, I was going to the dentist and asked if I could put on a gown and hook the anesthesia tube to my mouth for a picture and they let me. I sent Dave a text that I was going under for mouth surgery because I bit on something too hard. I had him going for a while too and it felt good to get him back. I loved that that was our relationship and he could always make me laugh.
