Frederick Lucas Obituary

Lucas, Frederick
FREDERICK RALPH LUCAS, JR. age 85 of Stratford, CT, beloved husband of Joan Seymour Lucas passed away peacefully at home on Thursday October 27, 2016. Born in Bridgeport on December 24, 1930 he was the son of Frederick R. and Margaret Aitken Lucas. He was a lifelong resident of Stratford. He proudly served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict aboard the USS Shangri-La, USS Columbia, USS Richard B Anderson and the USS Malabar. Upon discharge, Fred worked for Parker Antenna and later was owner of Lucas TV Antenna Repair. He was a lifetime member of Port 5 Naval Veteran's, Germania Schwaben Society, New Magician's Association, Fairweather Yacht Club, BPOE Elks, and TELSA (Television Servicers of America). Those who knew Fred will remember his generous heart, quick wit, and his white bead poodles. He always had a great joke to tell or a magic trick to show.
In addition to his wife of 60 years, Fred is survived by his daughters Gail Mitchell & husband John, Darlene Discko & husband Brian, Diana Santo and husband Jack, grandsons Adam Discko, Eric Discko and wife Rachel, Jack Santo, Lucas Santo, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Fred was predeceased by his sister Catherine Lucas.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to our caregivers Robert Otoo and Grace Badu, his nurse Lana Karniel at Masonicare and Dr. Amy Schwartz at the VA Hospital for their kind and compassionate care.
As per Fred's wishes there will be no calling hours. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 2 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Church, Second Hill Lane, Stratford. Burial with full military honors will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions in Fred's name be made to either Disabled American Veterans or The Alzheimer's Association.
