Joseph Deutsch Obituary

Joseph W. Deutsch
Joseph W. Deutsch, age 92, formerly of Fairfield, beloved husband of Theresa Quintiliano Deutsch, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2018. Born and raised in Bridgeport, son of the late Louis and Anna Kounchal Deutsch, Joseph had been a Fairfield Town resident for most of his life before moving to Florida several years ago. He was a proud Army Air Corps Veteran of WWII, serving as a Staff Sergeant on the B-29 Bombers as Captain of the Gunners. He flew many bombing missions over Tokyo towards the end of the war. Following the War, he went on to study Pharmacy at the University of Connecticut, and graduated with a degree in Pharmacology. Joe worked as a registered Pharmacist for Ethical Pharmacy and CVS for over 50 years until his retirement. Joe loved his dogs very much. He also enjoyed bowling, fishing, and walking on the beaches and in the parks feeding the wild birds there. He was an avid New York Yankees and New York Giants fan, as well as a history buff. In addition to Theresa, his loving wife of 64 years, survivors include his sons, Joseph Deutsch II and his wife Alicia of Fairfield, Louis Deutsch and his wife Darcy of Litchfield and Clifford Deutsch and his wife Maureen of Naples, Florida. He leaves behind his grandchildren Jessica and Joseph Deutsch and Faith and Brittney Deutsch, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Eugene Deutsch. I remember Joe well. Right after graduation I went to work at Ethical Pharmacy. It was a family business. Everyone who worked there was part of an extended family. Joe was my teacher..He was an excellent pharmacist and taught me all about pharmacy and especially compounding prescriptions . He was our compounding pharmacist. He made capsules - ophthalmic drops - suppositories ......prescriptions that are now made commercially..
I remember so many stories about Joe and his family and especially his wife (Terry). He later went to work for CVS where he was loved by everyone. I have fond memories of Joe ,Terry and his sons.
My he rest in peace knowing he was loved by all.

To the family, I know I have never met you but your Dad/ husband was a great guy. I am a pharmacist if 27 years that worked many of times with Joe. He totally reminded me of my Grandfather and I always enjoyed working with him. He was so funny that he always worked with a baseball hat of some kind. I asked him one day why he wore a hat and he looked at me with a twinkle in his eye and said because my head gets cold! I just laughed. No one at cvs corporate ever told him not to wear it. Plus he was so accurate with checking prescriptions, I always felt comfortable working with him. He also was such a sweetheart and called your Mom ever few hours just to check on her. I will miss him , just wanted to let you know how he touched my heart . Susan Montuori 27 vet of Cvs and very glad I met, worked and knew your Dad/ husband.

Dad, you will be sorely missed by all of your sons and by each of our wonderful wives. You taught us many things throughout your life that will stick with each one us for the rest of our days on earth. My only wish is that I had your toughness Dad but I'm happy with the 1/2 that I got from you. Thanks for always being there for me along for Joe and Cliff. With great admiration, respect and ever lasting memories.

Your Son;
Lou
