Marcia Windsor Obituary

Marcia Jo Windsor
Marcia Jo (Brittan) Windsor, 76, passed peacefully on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at Bridgeport Hospital in Bridgeport, CT. Marcia was born February 28, 1941 in Hartford City, Indiana to E.L. "Limey" Brittan and Mary Alice (Zigler) Brittan. She grew up in Indianapolis, graduating from Southport High School in 1958. As a high school senior, Marcia became Indiana's first female Drum Major 1st Class. Her dazzling blue eyes and spunky personality made her a popular leader in the booster club, band, and many other school and church organizations. Marcia attended Ball State University and Indiana University, and was a proud member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority. A retired piano teacher, Marcia shared her expertise and love of music with hundreds of students over the years. Marcia played piano and organ at church, often accompanying soloists during offertory and meditation. She was generous in filling in for regular organists and particularly loved playing for weddings. Marcia found joy in all forms of music and dance, loved playing cards and telling stories. She loved visits with her children and grandchildren and always wanted to know what everyone was up to. Marcia was preceded in death by her parents, sister Rita Brittan, and son Ronzell Irwin (Pete) Windsor III. She is survived by her children, Jay "Brit" Windsor, Brenda Windsor-Lionetti (John), Beth Windsor-Post (Mathew), and Bill Windsor; her brother Bill Brittan (Carolyn), her sister Jeanie (Brittan) Waltz (Ted), grandchildren Ethan, Jack, Baily, Cory, Gabe and Marina, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Family and friends are invited to a visitation and memorial service to be held at Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford, CT on Thursday, November 9, 2017 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please perform a random act of kindness. Special thanks to her longtime caregivers Rosario, Essie and Sylvana and to Vitas Hospice and Bridgeport Hospital staff for their compassionate care. God bless, and so sad to hear this news. She was one of my first friends when I moved to Southport as a freshman.

So sad to read this news. Condolences to Bill and Jeanne. We shared several fun years in band. She taught our girls flag corps many fun routines. I also saw her at IU and at the Alpha Chi Omega house. She loved helping us with rush. Many good memories of Marcia. Pat Benner Rau

How sad I was to learn of Marcia's passing. I remember many good times growing up together and in your home, Jeanie and Bill. Marcia was bright, fun loving and compassionate. Her smile was infectious! My thoughts are with you, her children and all who loved her.

How truly sorry I am that my good friend, and encourager has gone home to heaven.I know God will enjoy being with her as much as her earthly friends have enjoyed knowing and loving her. I am heartbroken, but know she is free now. Rest well, my friend Love, "Kid"as you always called me. Penny
