Richard Dreyer Obituary

Richard Dreyer
1943-2023
Richard Dreyer, age 80 of Fairfield, beloved husband of Rosann, passed away peacefully on November 27, 2023 after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's, with his devoted wife by his side.
In addition to his wife of 55 years, Richard is survived by two loving children, son Stephen and his wife Cheryl of Shelton, CT, and daughter Kristen Assheton and her husband Thomas of Bethel, CT. Richard leaves behind four grandchildren, Nicholas and Lauren Dreyer and Ryan and Jillian Assheton, who will forever cherish their Papa's sense of humor and playful nature.
Richard was employed by Bridgeport Hospital for forty-eight years prior to his retirement. He enjoyed gardening, photography and traveling, especially to Italy.
The family would like to thank the staff of Maplewood at Stony Hill for their care and compassion during his time there.
A celebration of Richard's life will be held in early 2024. Donations in his memory can be made to: The Alzheimer's Foundation (www.alz.com).

The world got a bit dimmer with your passing. All the memories are flooding back, from your coming to our house for lunch when you were in grade school, to the wonderful family holidays, to being influential in getting me into Radiology at Bridgeport Hospital,to our last visit when I was up there & the following Face Time calls that lasted for years after that visit...Memories I will cherish forever. Rosann, Stephen & Kristen, & families,my heart goes out to all of you at this difficult time...

I am grateful to of had Richard as a friend and coworker. In work, he brought skill, compassion, dedication, and sensitivity to everything he did. He was someone I could always rely on. I particularly appreciated his humor and concern for everyone he knew. I will always remember him as a the thoughtful, kind and generous person I came to know. Thank you Richard. May you rest in peace.
